Cirque du Soleil coming to Claremont Showground

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL RETURNS TO PERTH WITH ITS NEWEST CREATION KURIOS – CABINET OF CURIOSITIES FROM 15 JULY 2020

TICKETS ON SALE MONDAY 4 NOVEMBER 2019 AT 10AM

Cirque du Soleil will return to Perth next year with its most acclaimed touring show, KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities™ opening 15 July 2020 under their Signature Big Top at the Claremont Showground.  Written and directed by Michel Laprise, KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities is a tale in which time comes to a complete stop, transporting the audience inside a fantasy world where everything is possible.  In this realm set in the latter half of the nineteenth century, reality is quite relative indeed as our perception of it is utterly transformed.

Tickets are available for purchase to the general public beginning Monday 4 November at 10am by visiting cirquedusoleil.com/kurios or by calling 1800 036 685.

Yannick Spierkel, Company Manager of KURIOS said “This is my third time in Australia with Cirque du Soleil and the people of Perth have always given us a warm welcome to their beautiful city. I am excited to introduce KURIOS to Perth and bring the Big Top to our new home at Claremont Showground.”

Since its debut, critics have been raving across North America, Japan, Singapore and now Australia, where KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities premiered in Sydney on 2 October.

Arts Review

In an alternate yet familiar past, in a place where wonders abound for those who trust their imagination, a scientist (“The Seeker”) is convinced that there exists a hidden world – a place where the craziest ideas and the grandest dreams await.  Out of his curio cabinet steps a collection of otherworldly characters made up of world-class gymnasts, acrobats, contortionists, hand-puppeteers, yo-yo wizards, clowns, actors and musicians.  Together they turn the Seeker’s steampunk world upside-down as they are guided by an energetic gypsy jazz, electro swing soundtrack.
